Director of Development

Boston’s Tony Award-winning Huntington Theatre Company, with an annual operating budget of $15M, seeks a dynamic, experienced Director of Development to lead a talented staff and partner with a distinguished Board in implementing the $60M campaign to renovate and rename the company’s historic home: the Boston University Theatre on Huntington Avenue, known as the “Avenue of the Arts.”

The Huntington Theatre Company’s new Director of Development will be an experienced and charismatic arts leader who cares deeply about the future of theater and its artists in the 21st Century, is passionate about the Huntington’s mission, and has the professional experience to guide the Huntington in realizing its ambitious dreams over the next 5-10 years.

Director of Special Events

New York’s legendary Apollo Theater in Harlem—“where stars are born and legends are made”—seeks an experienced Director of Special Events to partner with a high-profile Board and senior management on gala special events generating $5M annually: the Apollo Spring Gala, “Dining with the Divas” luncheon, “Apollo in the Hamptons” gala and a roster of smaller donor cultivation events throughout the year.

For 83 years, the Apollo Theater has been a champion for diversity and artistic innovation in American popular music and dance performance. The Apollo is more than just a venue: it is a vibrant producer, commissioner, presenting organization, and one of the only institutions in the nation where emerging talent and established performers share the same stage, becoming part of an exceptional community of musicians and artists.

The Apollo’s next Director of Special Events will be a highly experienced special events producer and an entrepreneurial, energetic, goal-oriented leader. S/he will be passionate about the mission of the Apollo and understand and be able to communicate its cultural relevance to Harlem and New York City. S/he will have demonstrated experience producing and running a comprehensive, high-end special events program in a crowded New York City cultural marketplace, and bring a network of existing relationships with New York’s high net worth cultural donors and corporate sponsors of the arts. S/he will possess highly polished social skills and be able to mix comfortably with the Apollo’s donors, celebrities, sponsors, Board of Directors, event committee volunteers and vendors.

Executive Director

Gallim Dance, the leading New York City contemporary dance company dedicated to creating and performing the original works of Artistic Director Andrea Miller, seeks a dynamic and experienced Executive Director. The successful candidate will be a charismatic dance leader who can partner effectively with Andrea Miller and the Board of Directors to successfully execute Gallim Dance’s 10th Anniversary Season and associated fundraising campaign during 2017-18, and then partner with stakeholders to map the company’s exciting next chapter.

The successful candidate will be inspired by the opportunity to join a company celebrating a major milestone and already looking to a bright future with exceptional momentum and continuing growth opportunity. S/he will have a demonstrated track record of leadership in a similar position, and will either possess or quickly develop an excellent understanding of all income sources, including fundraising, booking and education. S/he will have knowledge of Andrea Miller’s choreography and the company’s works, and be passionate about them. S/he will be an experienced public speaker and fundraiser, able to solicit gifts, manage budgets, and bear the organizational responsibility for fiscal health. Polished and diplomatic, s/he will have superb interpersonal skills and be an excellent communicator in verbal, written, and presentation forms.
